Did you know that God’s demonstration of His love for humankind dates back to Genesis?  Picture the first man and woman, Adam and Eve, who despite of all that God put in place for them with nothing lacking, they disobeyed and sin against God. Resulting in, separation from God and alienation from His presence.  Despite of their disobedience The God of Love does not forsake them. He makes a promise in the Garden of Eden that One will come to defeat sin and Satan. (Genesis 3:15).  His promise was later fulfilled; God Himself came to earth through His Son, Jesus Christ, born of the seed of the Holy Spirit in order to reconcile man and woman to Himself.

God’s love is so contrary to our human nature that it defies mortal comprehension. Our nature says: Adam and Eve messed everything up so they got what they deserved. We tend to give up and pass judgment on persons who fall into sin. Thank God we have a loving and caring Father who doesn’t give up on us. If He did we would all be doomed. God knew that human in our sinful nature could not bring us back into relationship with Him. The need for a Savior was abundantly clear, so in His time, He sent Jesus, His only Begotten Son (John 3:16).

Christmas is the fulfillment of God’s plan from the time of creation, to step into the pages of human history and intervene on the behalf of man’s sinful condition.   This is what Christmas is all about – Celebrating the Birth of Jesus- the promise of God to humankind, to restore us as alienated sons to our Heavenly Father.

As we celebrate Christmas, let us be reminded that God sent His Best- Himself, through His Only Begotten Son, Christ Jesus.  The love of God being demonstrated to the world. He put His character on display- Love!  For, He is the God who loves and not simply a God of righteous indignation.

As we give gifts to our loved ones this Christmas, let us reflect on the greatest gift of all. The gift of salvation through Christ- the perfect gift from Heaven- costly and rich, yet it was given to everyone freely who choose to accept it. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8), that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.  God’s love gives and forgives and keeps on giving.

This Christmas and throughout the season, let us conduct ourselves so that others may see the love of our Heavenly Father being expressed and revealed in our lives.  Let us live in hope, joy, love and faith as we wait with eager expectation for the Second Coming of our Lord and Savior- the Promised One spoken of by God in the Garden of Eden, who came on earth to restore us to our rightly positions as sons of Our Father who is in Heaven.

Merry Christmas!
