I have a little riddle for you: What rises before the sun and sets before the table? It’s a mother, of course.
It was certainly my mother! With 9 boys and 1 girl she had to get up pretty early every day to ensure my siblings and I were dressed and ready for school or church or even a trip to the beach.
Mothers deserve to be celebrated for all the good and extraordinary things they do. But I also want to celebrate mothers for who they are.
And who are mothers? Mother’s are God’s instruments of care and nurture for human life. Beginning in the womb.
Mothers, grandmothers, aunts, all are in a divine position of care. God is depending on you to bring forth and to care for the human life that comes to this earth.
I admonish mothers to take seriously this responsibility. Remember that through the Holy Spirit. God has provided the wisdom you need to raise that child in the way they should go.
May God bless all mothers and those who do the work of mothers.
And for those of you who are blessed to have your mother with you still, let her hear you say I love you.
Happy Mother’s Day to All Mothers!
